The devil grins from ear to ear when he sees the hand he's dealt us

[Tess had always been aware of the possibility of metahumans coming after her husband. She knew his role in their creation. Knew the dangers. Knew that some might want revenge, might hold him responsible even though he’d tried his best to save the city. To protect everyone in it.

She knew the dangers, and they didn’t matter. She faced them as she faced everything else. By his side.

By THEIR side, now. Eobard wasn’t one of the metahumans the dark matter explosion had created. He was something else. He was theirs. A metahuman from another Earth. Another time. And he’d taken up vigilantism, because he was bored. It gave him something to do. Somewhere to vent. So no doubt he’d made his own fair share of enemies.

She’s never thought about the fact that anyone might come after her. Might try and use her to get to them. To take revenge on them through her. It doesn’t cross her mind until it happens. Until she’s in the space she shares with her husband, husbands, at this point, really.

Until there’s someone in their home.

And they’re furious and determined, and she doesn’t have a chance to figure out what their metahuman ability is or how to counter it before they’re USING it, sending her flying through plate glass. Its shattering is the last thing she hears before everything goes black.]

I can feel your wisdom burning me like a second sun

[Tess brushes blonde hair back off her face and frowns at the clearboard. There are tests running on the computer and she can’t do anything until they’re done. But it doesn’t make sense to leave the labs. Since she’ll just have to come back once they’re done anyway to start the next stage of tests.

So puttering around the lab it is. And toying with equations on the clearboard. Grabbing an eraser she removes the current equation and starts over. There are several improvements that can be made on the pulse rifle Harrison took a liking to on the other Earth.

Same for that ring of Eobard’s.]

So when you're restless, I will calm the ocean for you

[There are some days Tess really hates galas. And all of the other events that come with running something as high profile as S.T.A.R Labs. She would much rather be THERE, working on something, or at home, with Harrison and Eobard. Somewhere important. Instead of putting on a smile and pretending she’s glad to be there. But she’s always been better at it than Harrison, so she goes. He doesn’t always get OUT of going, though.

If she has to go through this, then he does, too.

But he’s gone, off on a business trip. So it’s just her.

Only it isn’t. Not anymore. Not since Eobard had come into their lives.

Somehow she’d managed to persuade him to attend with her. She’s not quite sure how, and frankly she doesn’t actually care. What matters is that he’s there. Which means it’s going to be infinitely less BORING. And watching him insult their fellow party-goers all the while sounding like he isn’t is a sight to behold.

Stealing him away for kisses around a corner or behind some incredibly ugly statue is fun, too. Touching him comes as easily as Harrison, now. Casual brushes of fingertips, without thinking. Catching his hand with hers. Pressing kisses against the back of his neck. He’s hers, as much as Harrison is. And she’s theirs.]
